ANYONE WITH A craving for local foods need look no further than the Chamberlain Bridge in the City to satisfy their desires.
Yesterday members of the Women Entrepreneurs of Barbados began selling delicacies such as tamarind balls, chutneys, fish cakes, “comforts”, local wines and more from the central location in Bridgetown.
Gloria Ruck of G’s Sweet Treats said the event would continue tomorrow.
When the WEEKEND NATION visited,  only Ruck and Margaret Payne of Mars Catering Services were present but Ruck said participation should improve over the course of the three days.
As for business, Ruck said it had been slow but added she was still thankful.
“It’s slow but you have to give God thanks as every bit counts,” she said.
Payne said the initiative was a good one, she liked the location and agreed things were slow. She said she would like to see the event repeated regularly. (CA)
