Defending champions Springer Memorial, Parkinson Memorial, Coleridge and Parry (CP) and Queen’s College (QC) qualified for Tuesday’s semi-finals of the Barbados Secondary Schools’ Under-15 netball league with impressive wins Thursday evening at the Netball Stadium.
Springer Memorial ran away 24-8 winners over Combermere as Rashanna Thorne made 14 goals from 17 attempts, Alanis King nine of 20 and Dishonna Howell scored her one attempt.  Combermere did not maximize their 28 shots at goal with Nicola Young making 6-16, Simone Bayne 1-4 and Shae White 1-8.
Parkinson needed a 13-18 effort from Tatyana Walrond and 1-4 by Renicha Prescod to edge Alexandra 14-13.  Tana Catlyn scored 11-17 but Lianna Stewart struggled with 2-12 for Alexandra.
Queen’s College used their speed and strong centre court to defeat Lester Vaughan 35-12 as the losers scored a high percentage of their few opportunities at goal.  Latisha Edwards shot 18-25 and Niara Forde 17-22 for QC, while Stephian Shepherd made 7-9, Leilani Haddock 3-4 and Jana Joseph 2-5 for Lester Vaughan who only enjoyed 18 attempts at goal. Coleridge and Parry turned back The St. Michael School 24-14 with Romancia Odwin scoring 14 of 18 and Shondelle Harvey making 10-17 for CP.
High jumper Zoe Trotman responded with 10-14 and Shannon Edwards 4-8 for St. Michael.
Next Tuesday, Springer will play Coleridge and Parry and Queen’s College will battle Parkinson.
The Under-13 semis will also be staged on that evening with 2013 winners Springer also taking on Coleridge and Parry and Christ Church Foundation meeting Lester Vaughan. (KB)
