TWO BARBADIAN MEN were detained by police yesterday after the discovery of more than 600 pounds of cannabis in the boat on which they were travelling.
Police public relations officer Inspector David Welch said the vessel was intercepted five nautical miles off Alleyne’s Bay, near Mount Standfast, St James during a joint operation between the Drug Squad, the police Marine Unit and the Barbados Coast Guard.
The operation netted 661.54 pounds of the drug, found in 12 bales and a haversack containing three taped packages.
The drugs were seized and the boat was detained. (PR/NB)
