MINISTER OF EDUCATION Ronald Jones has given the assurance administrative staff of the Barbados Community College (BCC) will be paid.
The affected BCC staff took industrial action yesterday to protest late payment of their salaries. They said salaries had been late for the past year.
Today, Jones said the problem could be due to hiccups in the system and he indicated he would be meeting with parties at BCC to discuss the matter.
He told the media BCC was an exceptionally large employer whose contribution he valued and he wanted to eliminate any activity that would cause the tertiary level educational institution to be viewed as a public spectacle.
He was optimistic that whatever hiccup that had caused the problem would be speedily removed and would not be allowed to recur.  (GC)
