CONTROVERSEE WAS MEGA on the road yesterday, but there was no need for police assistance – the thousands of revellers were just feeling Ah Feeling.
Veteran bandleader Gwyneth Squires continued her winning ways when her band of 350 revellers in Controversee 2014 took the Large Band Of The Year title while she equalled last year’s haul of 11 prizes.
And following the tie for the STAG Jam Tune with Benup at the Roberts/BL&P Foreday Morning Jam with Gorg’s Meh Rum just two days ago, Porgie & Murda are on top once again, this time as Lead Pipe & Saddis. Their hit song Ah Feeling took the Tune Of The Crop title and earned them $7 500.
This is Squires’ 19th time in winners’ row, but the designer with the midas touch was still “elated” when the DAILY NATION caught up with her on Spring Garden via cellphone last night shortly after the winners were released. She was at the time looking to buy food for her team.
