SOCIAL SCENE: Regional chit-chat

The lawns of Government House glittered in the spirit of the Crop Over Season, when Governor General Sir Elliott Belgrave and Lady Belgrave hosted delegates to the 39th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association regional conference last week.
The Royal Barbados Police Force Band played under a marquee as Sir Elliott mingled with guests, greeting delegates and guests  such as Anguilla’s Chief Minister Hubert Hughes, local political veterans such as Sir Frederick Smith and Elliott Mottley and Opposition Leader in Trinidad and Tobago Dr Keith Rowley.
Speaker of the House of Assembly and chairman of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (Barbados) Michael Carrington also rubbed shoulders with some of his regional counterparts.
