PRIME MINISTER Freundel Stuart remains unopposed as president as the Democratic Labour Party prepares to launch its 59th annual conference Friday night.
Veteran politician George Pilgrim is also returning as general secretary of the party, with current holder of the post, Government minister Donville Inniss, not seeking re-election.
Inniss and chair of the conference, Verla DePeiza, made the disclosures during a media briefing at DLP headquarters in Belleville, St Michael today.
Inniss said the conference would not be dominated by discussion about the Opposition Barbados Labour Party and former Prime Minister Owen Arthur’s decision to sit in Parliament as an Independent Member of Parliament.
The theme of the conference is Achieving Global Competitiveness. Highlights include the Prime Minister’s address on Sunday and reports by Minister of Education Ronald Jones and Minister of the Environment Dr Denis Lowe Saturday. (TY)
