Whatever happens, the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) will have a female general secretary from next month.
Outgoing general secretary Sir Roy Trotman said today two senior unionists would face the polls shortly to replace him. They are assistant general secretaries Toni Moore and Veronica Griffith.
The election will be one of the highlights of the 73rd annual delegates’ conference of the union on August 30 and September 6.
Sir Roy, 70, will address the conference on the opening day and the new general secretary will deliver her speech the following Saturday. (TY)
