BARBADOS LIGHT & POWER (BL&P) says it is not trying to muscle its way over the renewable energy sector.
?Furthermore, the company’s managing director-designate Roger Blackman has insisted that the company was simply trying to ensure that it could provide the country with a consistent, quality supply of electricity.
Responding to a question from the media during a teleconference yesterday, Blackman suggested that any grumbling by those in the renewable energy sector that the Canadian-owned company was trying to have its way, was not supported by the facts.
“We don’t set energy policy . . . . Government sets energy policy for the country and the utility as well as the regulator implement that policy,” he said.
“We have been all along demonstrating by our record and promoting the growth [of the alternative energy sector].”
