ACROSS BARBADOS, children have been heading to their prospective schools to get their textbooks for the new term.
While most students have completed this task, there are still a few stragglers as well as the upper sixth form students, who go on a separate day.
At Harrison College, that day was yesterday, and sixth form students journeyed to the library to collect their books from librarian Stephanie Gooding and her team of fifth form helpers.
Gooding said she would like to see students take better care of the books as carelessness puts tremendous pressure on the textbook loan scheme.
“Like most other schools, some students do take care of the books while others don’t. It would be good if we can get back the books in good condition instead of with water, food, drink and paint stains or being lost altogether. A lot of students lose the books, which makes it hard on the loan scheme.” (CA)
