No change in BCC numbers

IT IS STILL early days, but there has been no significant change to the student roll at the Barbados Community College (BCC).

Speaking against the backdrop of low enrolment at the University of the West Indies, campus registrar Sydney Arthur said the trend is not surprising because students at BCC have significant costs as well.

Arthur said the registration fee is just over $300, then students have to buy books which run upwards of $100 each. He said students can also incur additional expenses for food and transportation.

Classes for new students begin on September 8, but Arthur said there is a lot of juggling and shifting during that month and a more accurate number of students enrolled will be known after that process. (YB)
