News of the death of one of their senior managers sent shockwaves through the Fontabelle business place of Brancker’s yesterday.
Carol-Anne Brancker, the only daughter of Brancker’s owner Rawle Brancker and Joyce Brancker, died at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) in the early hours of yesterday after a brief illness.
Staff were devastated by the news of the death of their director of special projects and merchandising, as she had just been absent from work for a day or two “not feeling well”.
Trained in fashion merchandising and visual showroom displays at the Fashion Institute of Canada, Carol Anne left her job at Cave Shepherd in which she had been utilising her expertise in visual showroom displays, to join her father’s St Michael business and give of her knowledge in this area.
In her contribution to a newspaper supplement on the 40th anniversary of Brancker’s this past June, she said: “Because Brancker’s is a family business, all of us pitch in wherever we are needed. My dad has been good in training us to be flexible.”
She added she always knew her place would eventually be at her father’s side in the business which he had founded and headed for many years.
