Drugs found in barrels, man charged

Police have charged 33-year-old Dwayne Omar Roachford with importation of nine kilos of cannabis which were discovered in two barrels at the Bridgetown Port.

On Friday, Roachford went to the Port to clear two barrels which had arrived from the United States earlier in the week. The barrels were purported to contain food stuff, but Customs personnel found the marijuana hidden in 12 cans of an undisclosed food item.

Roachford was detained and also charged with possession, possession with intent to supply and trafficking.

The Field Place, Bayville, St Michael resident is scheduled to appear in the District A Court Magistrates Court tomorrow. (PR/SAT)
