A Guyanese sailor who attempted to smuggle just over 12 kilos of cannabis into Barbados will be sentenced when he reappears in court on October 24.

Thakurdeo Heeraman, 35, pleaded guilty to possession, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation when he appeared in the District A Magistrates Court today.

Heeraman arrived in Barbados last Saturday as part of a tug boat crew which was towing a barge with produce from Guyana.

The drugs were found in 18 packages in a garbage bag after a joint operation was carried out by the Police Drug Squad and Customs on Tuesday. (PR/SAT).
