General secretary of the Barbados Workers Union (BWU), Toni Moore, joined close to 50 secondary school students and members of the BWU to clear the Sargassum seaweed from Silver Sands Beach in Christ Church yesterday morning.

The group also completed a hike between Silver Sands and Long Beach to witness first-hand the impact of climate change on the shoreline.

Moore said throughout the month unions worldwide will be hosting activities to coincide with the recognition of World Day for Decent Work observed on October 7, under the theme Justice For Workers, Climate Justice.
