The Opposition Barbados Labour Party (BLP) today warned Government that an increase in taxes could see the economy hitting “rock bottom” by the end of the next fiscal year in March, 2015.
The BLP’s advisor on economic matters Dr Clyde Mascoll told a media conference that imposition of additional taxes would not inspire growth in the economy but cause severe problems.
Mascoll was reviewing Barbados’ economic position following comments by Governor of the Central Bank of Barbados Dr DeLisle Worrell and Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler.
Mascoll shared the briefing with Leader of the Opposition Mia Mottley who called for Prime Minister Freundel Stuart to intervene to improve the country’s economic situation, claiming that Sinckler was not doing the right thing. (TY)
