PM Stuart to urgent CARICOM Meeting

Prime Minister Freundel Stuart has left the island to attend an urgent one-day meeting of CARICOM leaders to discuss challenging public health issues.

The 17th Special Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM which is taking place today in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, focuses on the region’s handling of the Ebola virus and chikungunya diseases.

The lead spokesman on health matters, Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Denzil Douglas, is expected to chair the discussions.

Barbados’ delegation to Trinidad and Tobago also includes Minister of Health, John Boyce; Permanent Secretary, Defence and Security, Gabrielle Springer and Chief Medical Officer, Dr Joy St John.  (PR)
