BARBADOS HAS LOST another two prominent citizens.

NATION ONLINE has learnt of the death of engineer Carlton Brathwaite this morning while Esme Wickham reportedly passed yesterday.

Brathwaite is remembered as the Barbadian involved in the controversial HARP Project of the 1960’s in which a 119-foot-long gun was erected at Paragon Christ Church for a space research project conducted by  Canada’s Mc Gill University.

He also had a reputation for being the closest friend and confidante of Barbados’ first Prime Minister and National Hero, the Right Excellent Errol Walton Barrow.

Wickham, the widow of noted Barbadian journalist John Wickham, made an outstanding contribution to the development of dance in Barbados as a choreographer. She was recognised for her work in this area of the National Independence Festival of Creative Arts (NIFCA) with a Stalwart Award. (GC)
