Consumers who might have been hoping for an ease with their fixed line telephone bills when the pricing plan under which they are charged expires next March, may have to wait for at least another year.

The Fair Trading Commission (FTC) is now proposing an extension of the Price Cap Plan (PCP) 2012, which regulates the domestic and international services of Cable & Wireless (trading as LIME), to March 31, 2016.

“Currently, the commission is in the process of conducting a study of the telecommunication market in Barbados, which will be beneficial in the Review of the Price Cap Plan 2012,” a public notice said.

“In view of recent developments, the time frame for the completion of the study and other activities identified in the Price Cap Plan Compliance Rules and Procedures dated May 22, which must be completed prior to the end of the Price Cap Plan 2012, an extension to March 31, 2016 is considered desirable.” (AB)
