TWO BRATHWAITES combined to put Barbados Pride in the driver’s seat against Trinidad and Tobago Red Force on the second day of their WICB Professional Cricket League match today.
Captain Kraigg Brathwaite extended his overnight 115 to 182 in a healthy total of 360 before fast bowler Carlos Brathwaite grabbed three wickets to help restrict the hosts to 89 for seven at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port-of-Spain.
Barbados Pride thoroughly dominated the day after resuming on 209 for four.
Kraigg Brathwaite and Shane Dowrich, who made 76, carried their fifth wicket partnership to 133 after joining forces just after lunch on the first day with the total on 85 for four.
Opener Brathwaite was ninth out after occupying the crease for seven-and-a-half hours in which he faced 361 balls and struck 17 fours.
Dowrich, who started the day on 50, batted for four hours, faced 207 balls and counted ten fours.
Following the dismissal of Dowrich, Barbados Pride also lost Carlos Brathwaite (0), Jason Holder (17), Ashley Nurse (29) and Jomel Warrican (9).
Carlos Brathwaite made early inroads into Trinidad and Tobago Red Force’s batting, removing Evin Lewis (10), Yanick Ottley (0) and Jason Mohammed (3) in a six-over burst before tea.
Fellow pacer Kemar Roach tightened the advantage for Barbados Pride after the interval by dismissing West Indies players Lendl Simmons (25) and Denesh Ramdin (0), while spinners Nurse and Warrican also chipped in with a wicket apiece. (HG)
