Political parties should be working together

AN ANGLICAN PRIEST today urged Barbados’ political parties to come together to help the country solve its “economic crisis” and other major problems.

Reverend Curtis Goodridge of St Lucy Parish Church said political parties should be “brainstorming” on the issue of what should be done to get the country out of its troubles, rather than focussing on winning a general election.

Reverend Goodridge made the comments during the annual Independence service of the ruling Democratic Labour Party at his church.

In what Minister of Tourism Richard Sealy called a candid and provocative sermon, Reverend Goodridge said Barbados faced not only an economic crisis, but its homes, schools and the churches were in crisis. (TY)
