Barbados’ top international surfer, Chelsea Tuach, has once again created history by becoming the first Barbadian to be crowned the Association of Professional Surfing of Puerto Rico (APSPR) Corona Pro Series champion.

Tuach won the Open Women’s Pro event for the second time at Middles, Isabela, Puerto Rico, last weekend at the 26th edition of the Corona Pro.

This was Tuach’s first year competing in the largest regional pro event in the Caribbean.

She had won the first event of the series last November at Middles and finished third in March at Rincón before successfully defending her title at Middles this past weekend.

Surfing against some of the top female surfers from Puerto Rico, Argentina and the United States, Tuach impressed the judges with her forehand attack on the peeling, shoulder-high, right hand waves that are very similar to her home break at the Soup Bowl in Bathsheba. (EZS/PR)
