THE TALLY remains at three.

There was no adding to Barbados’ haul at the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games after another set of medal hopefuls fell by the wayside during yesterday’s action in Veracruz, Mexico.

Tennis’ dynamic duo Darian King and Haydn Lewis went the closest to improving on the country’s tally, but they just couldn’t reproduce their Davis Cup magic in a heartbreaking 7-6, 2-6, 10-7 super tiebreak loss to Venezuelans Roberto Maytin and David Souto.

It’s the second straight fourth place finish at a CAC Games for Barbados’ doubles pairing, who also lost a similarly tight three-set match four years ago.

The ultramarine and gold were also favoured to medal in the men’s 200 metres after pro sprinter Levi Cadogan picked up a silver earlier this week in the 100.

But Cadogan didn’t even start the race, apologising to Barbados for failing to contest the final while complaining for problems with his leg. (JM)
