DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) – Mohammad Hafeez has been suspended from bowling in international cricket after an independent analysis found the Pakistan offspinner’s bowling action to be illegal.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) says today that the analysis revealed Hafeez’s elbow extension exceeded the 15-degree level of tolerance permitted under the regulations.
Hafeez was reported after Pakistan won the first Test against New Zealand in Abu Dhabi last month and was tested at the National Cricket Performance Centre in Loughborough.
The offspinner can apply for re-assessment after modifying his bowling action.
Hafeez is the second Pakistani offspinner to be banned by the ICC after Saeed Ajmal was suspended in September.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has named both players in the list of 30 probables for the World Cup.
