BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – Hilton Barbados Resort’s Needhams Ballroom was transformed into a Chicago Jazz lounge when international jazz legend Ramsey Lewis was featured in concert recently.
The three-time Grammy award winner thrilled the audience for just over an hour, starting off with his popular Grammy Award-winning Wade in the Water, from his first album titled Ramsey Lewis and the Gentlemen of Swing.
He then proved why he has seven gold records to his name, when he performed his Close Your Eyes & Remember from the Appassionata album, much to the delight of the full house in attendance.
The American jazz composer, pianist and radio personality then took the audience on a Gospel journey with popular numbers including Take My Hand Precious Lord and Pass Me Not O’ Gentle Saviour, which had the patrons clapping and singing along.
A Christmas medley including The Christmas Song and Santa is coming to Town were also well received, as well as other popular hits like Betcha by Golly Wow and Earth Wind and Fire’s Wayo. (PR)
