THE ROYAL BARBADOS Police Force has outlined a number of personal safety measures which residents and visitors should implement this Yuletide season.

Acting Station Sergeant Roland Cobbler also encouraged people to be on the lookout for “unscrupulous individuals” who sometimes visit homeowners at this time of year asking for money with the promise to deliver products and services. He said they are “never to be heard again” after receiving cash in advance.

“Pay special attention to the elderly persons living in your communities who in most cases are more vulnerable targets to persons engaged in this type of activity. Ensure that persons visiting your communities proclaiming to be representing various business and entities produce valid picture identification, before opening the doors to your homes or transacting any form of business with them.

“Immediately inform the police if you notice persons engaging in this type of activity in your communities,” he urged. (NB)
