Three charged in Crane drug seizure

THREE MEN are expected to appear in the District “C” Magistrates’ Court today in connection with the seizure of 54 pounds of compressed cannabis on Crane Beach on December 7.

They are 31-year-old Anderson Omar Lorde; 22-year-old Dario Layne, both of Silver Sands, Christ Church and Jeffrey Alleyne, 48, of Hinkson Gap, Baxters Road, St Michael.

They have been jointly charged with possession, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation.

According to police, members of the Drug Squad, Police Maine Unit and the Barbados Coast Guard, carried out an operation at sea off the Crane, St Philip and one Barbados-registered fishing boat was intercepted with three Barbadian men on board. 

A subsequent search of the nearby beach turned up one duffle bag containing the illegal drug. (PR/NB)
