Woman critical after attack

AN OFF-DUTY Police officer managed to intervene during a cutlass attack on a St Michael woman yesterday morning.

However, Marva Ward, 36, a maid at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, sustained several wounds about the body and was said to be in serious condition at the hospital.

Reports indicate that she was attacked by the father of her children who also resides in the area.haggatt-hall-attack

The incident occurred just behind Sky Mall in Haggatt Hall, St Michael, while Ward was on her way to buy a newspaper from a roadside vendor after taking her daughter to get a ride to school.

Her devastated father, Leroy Brewster, 71, told the DAILY NATION he was at their Cutting Road, Haggatt Hall home when he heard a commotion outside. (MB)
