JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) announced today that left-arm fast bowler Kenroy Peters has been called up as replacement for Kemar Roach in the ongoing three-match Test series against South Africa.

Roach injured his right ankle while bowling on the first day of the first Test match at SuperSport Park last Wednesday. He will return home to continue his rehabilitation.

Peters, 32, was the leading bowler in the 2014 WICB Regional Four-day Tournament with 40 wickets for Windward Islands at a miserly average of 12.75. This season, he has captured up 13 wickets in four matches at 19.38, including a five-wicket haul against leaders, Guyana Jaguars.

The Vincentian has so far taken 190 wickets (average 20.21) in 62 first-class matches.

Roach took two of the first three wickets to fall in South Africa’s first innings but pulled up with an ankle strain while bowling and took no further part in the Test match.

Full Squad: Denesh Ramdin (Captain), Sulieman Benn, Jermaine Blackwood, Kraigg Brathwaite, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Sheldon Cottrell, Narsingh Deonarine, Shannon Gabriel, Jason Holder, Leon Johnson, Kenroy Peters, Marlon Samuels, Devon Smith, Jerome Taylor and Chadwick Walton.
