IT WAS A VINTAGE MOMENT for the Royal Barbados Police Force Band and the hundreds who turned out for Christmas Morning in Queen’s Park yesterday, when the band’s current director Superintendent Keith Ellis stepped aside, handing over his baton to former director Reverend Dr Christopher Atherley.

Atherley was until retirement last year, the man on the dais on Christmas morning and he built a reputation with the crowd for his style of conducting.

Yesterday, grateful spectators applauded as he rekindled memories.

Another retired stalwart of the band, former deputy director Rudolph Holder, was also given a turn on the conductor’s stand. (GC)
