Kolij battle goes down to the wire

The new era of Kolij ball is coming of age.

It will be battle of the 2000s in the first ever Clash Of The Decades Basketball Tournament final today after the “early 2000s” and present day team predictably won yesterday’s Final Four matches at Crumpton Street.

Led by Premier League schoolboys Nikolai Burton and Joel Hunte, the current Harrison College side survived a menacing third-quarter run to beat the Pre-1985 team 56-43, before the Early 2000s coasted to a 66-48 victory over the Late 1990s.

At one stage, the present day squad – the reigning schools’ Division 1 champs – looked certain of running away with the contest, having overcome a slow start to go on a 17-8 run to end the first half that put them ahead 26-14. (JM)
