STREET BEAT: Business prospects ‘not rosy’

AFTER the hardships of 2014, are Barbadians feeling hopeful or apprehensive about the new year?

Street Beat set out to get answers to this question from some small business people.

Stephen Hatch is not expecting a good start to the year and said he was not looking forward to it. As the managing director of Jubilee Suppliers Ltd, he said his livelihood depended a lot on construction and that industry was not looking too bright right now.

“I depend on construction and while there are a lot of promises on the horizon, there is nothing definite.” he said. “Once construction gets started, we will get business but that won’t be until the middle of next year. In the meantime, we will just have to see what individuals are doing.” (CA)
