Congrats to you, Sir

THERE WAS TREMENDOUS excitement and joy prevailing at the residence of Sir Austin and Lady Sealy at Highgate Gardens, St Michael, on Thursday, New Year’s Day.

The occasion was to celebrate Sir Austin’s elevation to knighthood.
He was made a Knight Bachelor in the Queen’s New Year’s honours list.

Congratulations flowed from the invited guests who were treated to a sumptuous buffet luncheon prepared by the Sealy family.

Among those sharing in the enjoyment of the occasion were former cricketer and Cabinet member Sir Wesley Hall, retired university lecturer Sir Frank Alleyne, and former Deputy Prime Minister Sir Philip Greaves.

sir-austin-and-branford-goddardBarbados’ High Commissioner to London, Reverend Guy Hewitt, former Deputy High Commissioner to London Donville Johnson, retired public officers Ken Cumberbatch, Branford Goddard and Jeffrey Edwards; entrepreneur and sports administrator Ralph Johnson and spouse; and Democratic Labour Party stalwart Astor Watts were among the guests who lauded Sir Austin’s contribution as an outstanding sports administrator.

The three sons of the honouree, Minister of Tourism Richard, chiropractor Dr Adrian and construction engineer Gregory, along with his wife Jackie, assisted in making the occasion most enjoyable.

“I am humbled by this outpouring of congratulations, and on behalf of my wife and me I thank all those for their sentiments and congratulations,” said Sir Austin. (CJ)
