A HAMBURGER VENDOR was shot dead on Sunday night, bringing the murder toll for the year to date to 11.
Up to last night no one was able to say why the 21-year-old man had been killed.
Around 11.15 p.m., the victim, Khamraj Seerattan, was at his red-coloured burger stand, which is located just after the entrance to Grand Bazaar, on Uriah Butler Highway.
Seerattan was conducting sales when a car stopped near the stand. One man got out and opened fire on Seerattan, killing him on the spot.
Seerattan’s body was taken to the Port of Spain Mortuary and then to the Forensic Science Centre in Federation Park.
His mother, Bissoondai Gulbance, was at the Forensic Centre yesterday morning and told reporters: “He was a quiet person, not rowdy and not violent and I really did not expect something like this to happen.”
Homicide Bureau investigators said the deceased was not known to them. (Express)
