Marlon Nathaniel Samuels brings West Indies cricket fans as much joy as he brings them pain. This tour of South Africa was no different.

He self-destructed on Monday at Newlands in Cape Town after a belligerent knock of 74 that promised so much more.

In and out of the West Indies side since he was 19, Samuels, who turns 34 next month, was the side’s leading batsman in the three-Test series with 268 runs at an average of 53. (MK)
