Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) coach Floyd Reifer wants the West Indies Cricket Board to reconsider its position and allow them to be part of the Professional Cricket League.
CCC, based at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus, were first invited to play in the regional four-day competition back in 2008 but the invitation was not extended for 2014-15 season when the teams became franchise-based under a new professional system.
However, the CCC has been invited to participate in the Nagico Super50 Tournament starting in Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday.
The Sunday Sun caught up with Reifer Thursday during his team’s preparatory match for the tournament against Barbados at the 3Ws Oval.
“We have not given up hope,” he said. “Hopefully once we put in a good performance in the Nagico Super50 then the powers that be will reconsider us being back in the franchise tournament.”
