BARBADIANS WILL BE paying less for electricity in light of the drop in oil prices on the world market.
According to the Barbados Light & Power’s (BL&P) corporate communications administrator Jackie Marshall Clarke, the significant decline in the world oil prices has resulted in the Fuel Clause Adjustment declining by more than 50 per cent in the last six months.
This mechanism is used by BL&P to recover the cost of fuel in the generation of electricity.
Clarke explained that in August 2014, the fuel adjustment was 46.35 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh), while this month it was 22.75 cents per kWh – the lowest since June 2009.
