Walkouts ‘will continue’

STEP BACK and allow justice to be done.

This is the advice from Opposition Leader Mia Mottley to embattled Speaker of the House of Assembly Michael Carrington after Barbados Labour Party members walked out of Parliament yesterday.

And such walkouts would continue, she declared, as long as Carrington insisted on taking the Speaker’s Chair.

“Every time the Deputy Speaker is in the chair we will be there. Every time the Chairman of Committees is the chair we will be there. But until this issue is resolved, we believe the Speaker of the House should not seek to hold the Chair and that he should recuse himself until such time as this matter is resolved.”
