Shooting victim named

POLICE HAVE REVEALED the name of the young man who was shot at Joe’s River, St Joseph on Errol Barrow Day.

He is 25-year-old Shurland Cumberbatch, a resident of the area.

The incident occurred around 4:15 p.m.

According to police public relations officer Acting Assistant Superintendent David Welch, it is believed that the shooting was a result of an earlier dispute in which Cumberbatch was involved. 

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital by ambulance and is said to be in a stable condition. (PR/NB)
