Official funeral for Sir Harcourt Lewis on Saturday

THE LATE Sir Harcourt Lewis, former senior public servant and cabinet minister, will be accorded an official funeral this Saturday, January 31.

The service of thanksgiving will take place at Bethel Methodist Church, Bay Street, St. Michael, beginning at 10 a.m., and will be followed by the interment at Coral Ridge Memorial Gardens, The Ridge, Christ Church. The service is open to members of the public.

Persons will have an opportunity to pay their respects and sign condolence books prior to Saturday’s official funeral service at several locations. On Tuesday, January 27, a condolence book will be placed in the lobby of the Parliament Buildings, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

On Thursday, January 29, the body will repose at the Barbados Public Workers’ Cooperative Credit Union Limited, Belmont Road, St Michael, from  10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A viewing will also be held that same day at the National Union of Public Workers, Dalkeith Road, St. Michael, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

On Friday, January 30, the body will also repose at the Democratic Labour Party Headquarters, George Street, Belleville, St. Michael, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Sir Harcourt passed away on January 13 at the age of 82. (BGIS)
