IT IS THAT time again when the place to be is the Nook & Cranny Bar to catch up on the latest happenings and to laff-if-off.
Laff-It-Off, which is celebrating 30 years, opened last weekend at the Ann Johnson Auditorium at St Gabriel’s School and judging from the response of the audience, made up of sponsors and media, on Sunday night this year’s production looks to be another hit.
Janine White, who has made a name for herself at the National Independence Festival Of Creative Arts, has a bigger presence in Laff-It-Off and she seems to be a good fit with Simon Alleyne, Ishiaka McNeil, Chrispen Hackett, Toni-Ann Johnson and Peta Alleyne, who has also taken on the role of director this time around.
This year’s theme is Out Ta De Baller and in keeping with that, the usual ministerial suspects, political topics, issues relating to education, roadside vending, the now controversial hairstyle at a secondary school and a flip to the still unfolding situation with the Nigerian students are among the hot topics that are given the full Laff-It-Off treatment.
