Coach’s call

A CALL has been made to make netball a part of the Barbados Defence Force Sports Programme (BDFSP).

It has come from senior national netball coach Anna Shepherd, who contends that the discipline is one of the few mass sports which hasn’t been paid any attention by the programme.

She believes the time is ripe to have it rectified because, according to her, netball has consistently been in the forefront of making Barbados proud at major events and deserves much more recognition.

“We have enough girls who would be good in the sports programme and this will also help in terms of preparing them for World Youth. Our Under-16s and Under-21s have always performed well in all tournaments,” Shepherd told WEEKENDSPORT.
