A BARBADIAN WOMAN has created history on the hockey turf in England.
In a first for Barbados, national hockey player Joanna “Jo Jo” Davis had the distinction of captaining her club, East Grinstead in their first ever Hockey 5s indoor final at the renowned Wembley Stadium last Sunday.
Unfortunately, Davis, even though having the satisfaction of scoring her team’s only goal, wasn’t able to celebrate the achievement with a victory in England’s top-flight hockey competition.
First-time finalists East Grinstead had to settle for the silver medals as their opponents, Bowdon Hightown exorcised their Wembley demons of a year ago with a scintillating display to triumph 4-1.
