ART LOVERS have until this Wednesday to view some alluring, beautiful pieces of art by international artist and photographer Michael Naemsch at the Gallery of Caribbean Art, Northern Business Centre, Queen Street, Speightstown, St Peter.

Naemsch’s work is hung alongside that of another artist – Elizabeth Stewart – whose creations will be highlighted in next week’s art column.

Naemsch, who taught history and art in Toronto, Canada, for 15 years, has also been a teacher of social sciences. He spent a total of 28 years in the teaching profession.

His main focus has been on oil and watercolour paintings of the jazz greats. These paintings have been inspired by black and white photographs taken by renowned photographers.

Another main focus of his has been city scenes in downtown Toronto, San Francisco and Nice, France, while a third focus has been on the local scenery, the life of people in and around Barbados, local architecture, landscapes, seascapes and animals.

On this page we showcase the various talents of this veteran artist in the form of a landscape, a jazz great and the life of a Barbadian years ago. (CCH)
