Two judges scold prosecutors

TWO SUPREME COURT judges have scolded the prosecution representatives regarding the backlog of cases and the wasting of jurors’ time.

Justice Margaret Reifer told members of the prosecution team in Supreme Court No. 2 yesterday that she wanted to deal with some of the matters in the backlog that has been spoken about within recent years.

“The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has stated that there’s a backlog of cases. Bring me some of this backlog,” she told one senior prosecutor who had called a 2014 case and wanted it to be adjourned “for mention” later this month.
