Former England Test cricketer Roland Butcher has suggested that West Indies cricket authorities need to look beyond the region for players to represent it.
Butcher, the first black cricketer to represent England, made the suggestion while addressing the recent third annual Awards Ceremony and Dinner of the Barbados Cricket Umpires Association (BCUA) at the home of Cricket Legends of Barbados Inc. (CLOBI), Fontabelle.
The senior coach of the University of the West Indies (UWI), Cave Hill Campus’ Academy of Sports encouraged the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) “to look globally for their players and don’t just think that West Indian cricketers can only be found in Barbados, Trinidad, Jamaica et cetera.”
