A fifth-wicket century stand between Roston Chase and Shane Dowrich lifted Barbados Pride from a position of discomfort to one of control at Kensington Oval yesterday.

The home team ended the opening day of the sixth-round Caribbean Professional League match against the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force on 246 for four with middle-order batsman Roston Chase and wicket keeper/batsman Shane Dowrich in sight of what for each would be a second century of the season.

The position represented a recovery after Barbados Pride had slipped to 93 for four shortly after lunch having been put into bat by the visitors.
