HORSE RACING FANS found a new love on the Garrison Savannah track yesterday, Valentine’s Day.

He’s Daunting David, who in good conditions and on a firm track, was an impressive winner in the feature Valentine’s Day Handicap on the Barbados Turf Club’s fourth day of its first season.

The hard-fought triumph could not have come at a more opportune time, as Sir David Seale’s bay colt prepares for the March 7 Sandy Lane Barbados Gold Cup.

Daunting David, the son of Aragorn out of Mom’s Deputy, took full advantage of his weight plus some rather strange tactics by rival jockeys.

Daunting and Janak’s Gold benefited from an opening along the inside rail that became available from the two-furlong marker.
