RECORDS FELL LIKE NINEPINS in an exciting early session of the annual Elite Sports Relay Fair at the National Stadium, yesterday.

The highlight was Lester Vaughan’s quartet of Kentoine Browne, Michael Nicholls, Rivaldo Leacock and Stephen Griffith in the Under-20 Boys’ 1600 sprint medley.

Griffith had a thrilling battle with Combermere’s Raheim Skinner after receiving the baton from Leacock, who had held off the chasing Mario Burke of Harrison College and Ramarco Thompson of Combermere.

Griffith passed Skinner in the last ten metres to win in a new record time of 3:29.32 minutes. The Lodge School, one of the pre-race favourites, dropped the baton on the second leg but recovered to clinch third place.
