LIAT plan must work, says CDB

The clock is ticking on efforts to fix cash-strapped LIAT.

Calling the regional airline’s service “unacceptable” and “inefficient by any measure”, Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) president Dr Warren Smith yesterday warned that the latest announcement of plans to restructure LIAT had to work “this time around”.

He was speaking during the CDB’s annual Press conference. The bank is financing LIAT’s re-fleeting programme, which it has also funded in the past.

 “There is no question that the type of service that is currently being offered by LIAT is not acceptable. It’s inefficient by any measure and it’s not a new development.
